Learning Self Control
My self control skills are well......lacking. Maybe a tad bit more than lacking....maybe not thriving. Maybe a tad bit more than not thriving.......non-existent. Yes, non-existent. I know, I know. Self control is a ten commandment, but we're all sinners, okay? It's tough to learn something once you've gotten into the habit of NOT doing it. In my case, it's controlling myself. I just can't seem to make myself not let my emotions control me. I have sudden outbursts and big blow ups and I can be too clingy and emotional. It's DEFINITELY a problem. I have tried everything: deep breaths, journaling, bottling it up. NOTHING WORKS.
Until...... I found this amazing thing that God offers. Prayer. One quick prayer during a test or a long prayer in the morning can make me go from having boiling anger to a being a peaceful river. If you don't know how to start (I didn't know how to either) just pick something to pray about that's making you feel a certain emotion too strongly, and tell God that you are sorry for letting your emotions guide you instead of Him. Tell Him what is bothering you and lay it at His feet. Take a deep breath and deal with the situation.
Did it help??? Let me know in the comments below

dude. I was so moved in that post. The way you used your words to paint a beautiful picture and visual was amazing. I also agree that we shouldn't be pressured to do it, it's a gift from God. It's Him allowing us to have a relationship with Him. He could've made to where we didn't have anything to believe in, no hope at all.
ReplyDeleteWow! Thank you so much!
